Remembrance Ceremony to be held May 6, 2012
The FCSCR Annual Remembrance Ceremony will be held on May 6, 2012. The Ceremony will take place at St. Joseph's Provincial House at 385 Watervliet Shaker Road in Latham, NY. This touching event is open to anyone who has lost someone in their life to suicide. Disaster Case Management Launched
FCSCR has deployed three teams for long term disaster case management to aid those impacted by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. Capital Region Festival of Trees December 2, 3, and 4
The public was warmly invited to attend the Second Annual Capital Region Festival of Trees, where 40 sponsored and beautifully decorated theme based natural trees stirred visitors in fine form for the holidays. The festival opened with the Silver Bells Soiree on Thursday, December 1st. Throughout the remainder of the weekend the community brought their families to view the exhibition, purchase holiday items, and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. FCSCR partnered with Catholic Charities and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society as its charitable partners. Proceeds from the event invest in the ongoing recovery of the region's flood victims. An Intuitive Show" Social Art Gallery Exhibit Runs Through October 31
The FCSCR Social Art Gallery is hosting "An Intuitive Show" through October 31, 2011. This exhibit features the works of artists Leiah Bowden, Marjorie Olsen, and Letitia Splain Dayer. "An Intuitive Show" opened with a social event on October 1 where psychic and aura readings, Reiki, and group past life regression were available. "Social Responsibility and Nonprofits" Presentation - February 10, 2011
Keith Pickett, Executive Director of Family and Children’s of the Capital Region will present on the timely and dynamic topic of social responsibility and its opportunity for nonprofits. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is in vogue and has generated a world-wide movement within the for-profit sector. The presentation will examine the potentials of CSR that could be practiced within the nonprofit sector. It will offer insight and practical suggestions for nonprofit leaders and managers to develop and execute strategies that provide a competitive advantage. The presentation will take place at the New York State Nurses Association, at 11 Cornell Road in Latham, NY, at 7:30AM.
December 6, 2010: Festival of Trees
FCSCR brought back the Albany tradition of the Festival of Trees in December 2010, a magnificent display of 34 sponsored natural trees that each offered a unique theme.
The Festival of Trees concluded on Sunday, December 6th. Many thanks to all the sponsors and friends who participated to make this inaugural event a great one, the start of a new holiday tradition. CrisisChat Services Now Available to the Public
Family and Children's Service is proud to announce a new service, Crisis Chat, officially launched in August 2010. Crisis Chat is a confidential Instant Messaging service for anyone who is in crisis and needs to talk and prefers to communicate via text. FCS is thankful to the New York State Office of Mental Health for its investment in the new service.
