Family & Children’s Services of the Capital Region (FCSCR) held its second annual Capital Region Festival of Trees at 650 Warren Street in Albany from Friday, December 2, through Sunday, December 4, 2011.  Holiday Trees sponsored and decorated by Capital Region businesses, organizations, and individuals were on display to the public throughout the three days of the Festival.

A selection of decorated trees were available to the public through a raffle, with proceeds to benefit ongoing recovery efforts from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee,  while others will be donated to families negatively impacted by the storms. Among the participating sponsors were the Albany Academy for Girls, the Albany Police Department Athletic League, Bennett Contracting, the Bonadio Group, Capitaland Flooring, CDPHP, the Italian American Heritage Foundation, Inc., Langan Motor Car, the Lion’s Eye Bank, M&T Bank, Holiday Inn Express Albany, and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

History of the Capital Region Festival of Trees

The inaugural event for both the Festival of Trees and Silver Bell Soiree was December, 2010.

The Silver Bell Soiree is a special invitation only preview reception held on the Thursday evening prior to the opening day of the Festival of Trees. The Soiree features cocktails, hor’s d’oeuvres, wine wall and silent auction.

The Festival of Trees is held on the first Friday of December through the first Sunday and is a three day friend and fundraising event that celebrates the holiday season with decorated trees sponsored by local businesses, companies, nonprofits and individuals.
